During the install process, Acajoom automatically add all the language files and will adopt the default language used on your website.

Acajoom is translated into 17 languages :

  • Brazilian
  • Chinese (simplified and traditional)
  • Danish
  • Dutch
  • English
  • French
  • German
  • Hebrew
  • Hungarian
  • Italian
  • Norwegian
  • Polish
  • Portuguese
  • Russian
  • Spanish
  • Swedish

You can find and modify every sentences that Acajoom displays on your website in those languages files in the folder :

"Joomla / Administrator / Components / com_acajoom / language".

UPDATE : Since Acajoom 2.0.6, Acajoom automatically translates your language file into the right encoding format (for Joomla 1.5.x or Joomla 1.0.x) so you will not have problem with special characters any more!

Joomla 1.5.x uses the utf-8 encoding format.

The languages files in the Acajoom package are optimized for Joomla 1.0.x so if you use Joomla 1.5.x and some accents or special characters are not displayed properly on your website (you won't have this problem with the english language file), you will find on our download page some languages files for Joomla 1.5.x that you can download, unzip and copy/paste in the Acajoom language folder :

"Joomla / Administrator / Components / com_acajoom / language".

How to use Acajoom on multi-languages websites

Acajoom is translated into a lot of languages so Acajoom will adapt all its messages if you switch your Website from one to an other language (with Joomfish for example).

Nevertheless, the same Acajoom Newsletter can not be translated into several languages so the easiest way to use Acajoom on a multi-languages website is to create two different Lists of users and give the possibility for the visitor to subscribe to your List only in the right language.

The first option is to create two Lists and display those two lists in your module. The visitor will have to select the right List and subscribe... not so intuitive for a visitor.

So, here is a better option :

Create two Newsletter lists, and duplicate your Acajoom Module.
Then configure each module to display only one of your two Lists and add a little piece of code in your own Joomla template to display only one of those Modules for each language :

if($GLOBALS['mosConfig_lang'] == 'english' ) {
mosLoadModules ( 'user1',-1);
}else{
mosLoadModules ( 'user2',-1);
}

Here I published the Acajoom module configured with the English List on my module user1 and my German list on the module user2. So the area user1 will be only displayed for English users and the area user2 will be displayed for my German visitors.

Nevertheless, when you send your Newsletter, Acajoom adds the unsubscribe links in the current Admin language so your back-end website is in English, you have to switch your back-end language before sending a newsletter to the German list of subscribers.

Acajoom has not been designed for multi-languages websites. Nevertheless, this temporary solution should work for most of Webmasters.
