This article will explain you how Acajoom sends your Newsletters so you will be able to understand the whole process and optimise it to avoid any error.
Manual send ProcessYou can configure the Acajoom manual send process in your Acajoom configuration page, tab 'Mail'. Using the free version When you click on the 'Send' button using our free version (Acajoom News), Acajoom will try to send your Newsletter to your entire Mailing list. With the configuration displayed here, Acajoom will send 65 e-mails, then wait 20 seconds, then send 65 e-mails... until the end. There is no limitation on the send process and you can send more than 2000 e-mails if you want but your own server can have some restrictions and stop the Acajoom send process. The first restriction you may have is the fact that your server doesn't allow you to send more than X e-mails per hour (usually 200). In that case, after a certain number of e-mails successfully sent, the send process will display a lot of errors like 'Could not instantiate the mail function'. So you should change your configuration to send less e-mails and wait more time to avoid this problem. The second restriction is a time limit. That means your server can stop the page after 30 seconds (or 1 minute). In that case, you will be able to send e-mails and suddenly, the send process is blocked and no error is displayed on the screen. To avoid this sort of problem, you should increase the number of e-mails you send between pauses or decrease the pause.
Using our commercial versions With the same configuration, if you click on the 'Send' button using one of our commercial version (Acajoom Plus or PRO), Acajoom will try to send 65 e-mails, then wait 20 seconds, then refresh the page to send 65 e-mails and wait 20 seconds, then refresh the page... Acajoom refreshes the page to avoid any problem of time limit with your server, nevertheless, that means you have to keep the windows on your browser open during all the send process, otherwise the send process will stop after the first send process. If an error occurs during this manual send process, you can directly edit your Newsletter and you should see a message 'If you click on the send button, Acajoom will skip the first XX subscribers'. If you see this message, you can safely click on the send button and Acajoom will restart the send process but won't re-send the Newsletter to the first subscribers. The main problem you could have with this send process is with your server mail restrictions. So if you send more than 200 e-mails, we highly recommend you to don't use the manual send process but use the scheduled Newsletter so Acajoom will queue all your e-mails and will be able to go through any server limitation. The scheduled process uses your cron task to queue all your e-mails in the database and send it. And if an error occurs, Acajoom will be able to automatically send your Newsletter to the rest of your Mailing List.
Automatic send process : The scheduled Newsletter For more than 300 subscribers, we highly recommend you to schedule your Newsletter. With this process, Acajoom will queue all your e-mails and automatically send it with your cron task. That means all your e-mails are saved in the database so even if an error occurs, Acajoom will be able to continue the send process with the next cron task. When you use the scheduled Newsletter, you can configure the Scheduler tab to configure the send process but the Sending Settings have no effect on the send process. To use this automatic process, you have to set up a cron task and schedule your Newsletter .
