The first thing you have to do to start with Acajoom is to create your list. You will be able to subscribe users to this list and send Newsletters to the users subscribed to your list.
Click on the first link called ‘Lists’ in your Acajoom menu (in the back-end) : ‘Components -> Acajoom -> Lists’. You are now in the main page to manage your lists. You will be able to create, edit, delete your lists… Click on the button ‘New’ at the top of your page.
Tab ‘Description’ :Status : The field ‘Published’ allows you to publish or not your list. You won’t be able to subscribe a user to an unpublished list and you won’t be able to send Newsletters to an unpublished list. The field ‘Visible on frontend’ allows you to show or not your list on the frontend. If you set this option to ‘No’, your list won’t be showed on the frontend (in your module for example). If you add a hidden list to your module, the subscriber will automatically be subscribed to this list without giving him the option. The field ‘Type of list’ will determine what sort of list you are creating. - A ‘Newsletter’ list is the default type for a list, you will be able to create and send Newsletters and Scheduled Newsletters to this list of users.
- An ‘Auto-responder’ list is a type of list you can have access if you purchase Acajoom Plus or PRO. This list will allow you to add AutoResponders.
- A ‘Smart Newsletter’ list is only available with Acajoom PRO. You will be able to create a Smart-Newsletter and Acajoom will automatically generate Newsletters from this template at a defined frequency.
Description : You will be able to enter the name of your list in the field ‘List name’. This name will be used in the front-end and in the back-end to identify your list so each list must have an unique name. The field ‘List description’ allows you to enter a description for your list. This description will be showed in the front-end inside a Joomla tooltip. Sender information: The Sender information are default information for the ‘Sender name’, the ‘Sender e-mail’ and the ‘Sender bounce address’ but you will be able to configure all those fields differently for each Newsletter. Those parameters will be used to send the confirmation e-mail for this list. If you don't specify those parameters, Acajoom will configure your confirmation e-mail using the values in the Acajoom Configuration page.
Tab ‘Template’ :The option ‘HTML Mailing?’ will set if you allow HTML Versions for the Newsletters included in this list. We load your default WYSIWYG editor to be able to change the field ‘Template’. By default you should see the Acajoom template but you can easily change this template using your WYSIWYG editor. Each time you will create a Newsletter for this list, this template will be loaded and you will be able to insert your text directly in the template.
Tab ‘Auto-Responder’ : (only for Acajoom Plus and PRO)The field ‘Specify follow up auto-responder’ allows you to automatically subscribe your user to an other List once he received all e-mails from the current AutoResponder list. When a user is subscribed to an AutoResponder list, this user will receive the AutoResponders added to the list. Once the user has received all the AutoResponders, this user will be removed from the list. This option allows you to directly subscribe the user to an other list. You have to enter the list_id of the list you want the user to be automatically subscribed. Please enter the value ‘0’ if you don’t want to use this feature.
Tab ‘SmartNewsletter’: (only Acajoom PRO)If you created a SmartNewsletter list, you can specify : The ‘start date’. If you specify a date in the future, Acajoom will generate your first Newsletter from your SmartNewsletter at this date. This date needs to be in the past if you want Acajoom to start immediately. The field ‘Newsletter frequency’ allows you to specify a frequency for your SmartNewsletter. That means Acajoom will automatically generate a Newsletter from your SmartNewsletter every X days, depending on this frequency (only if you have new published articles in the specified Section/category) . You can select an Acajoom Section with the field ‘Article Section’. Acajoom will automatically include all new published Articles from this Section in the generated Newsletter. If you don’t specify anything in this field (if you keep the selection on ‘Select a section’), Acajoom will take all new published Articles from all your sections. If you selected a section, you will be able to select a Category with the field ‘Article Category’ and Acajoom will take all new published Articles from this category. With the option ‘All Categories’, Acajoom will include all new published Articles from the selected section. If you don’t have new published article in the section/category specified, Acajoom won’t generate your Newsletter and will wait until the next send date. The field ‘Content rendering’ is an option to define what do you want Acajoom to include in your SmartNewsletter. Acajoom can include the entire article, the introduction only or the title only.
Tab ‘Subscription’ :When you create a new list, you can automatically add all your Joomla users to this list if you click on “Auto Subscribe Users: All users” (this option is only available when you create a NEW list). With this option, all your Joomla users will be directly added to this list and any new registered user will be added to this list but not instantaneously! Acajoom doesn’t immediately add a new user when he registers on your WebSite, there is a delay due to the synchronisation (with Community Builder, you should configure the integration with Acajoom to automatically subscribe your users and don't use this field in your list. The delay will be removed if you use the Acajoom/CB integration.). You can manually synchronise the two lists of users (Acajoom and Joomla) if you click on the ‘Sync Users’ button on the Acajoom Configuration page (only available with Acajoom Plus and PRO). With Acajoom Plus and PRO, Acajoom will automatically synchronise Acajoom users and Joomla users if your Cron task works. This process takes time, so Acajoom synchronises the users every hour if you don’t click on ‘Sync Users’. In the free version (Acajoom News), this process is done just before you try to send a Newsletter or when you access to the Acajoom Subscribers page and not more often than every hour.
The option ‘All users’ will add all your existing users and will automatically subscribe new users to this list. The option ‘New users’ will automatically subscribe your new registered users to this list. The field ‘List Access’ (only available with Acajoom PRO) allows you to define what group of users can view and subscribe to this list. Subscribe Settings : If you specified in the Acajoom configuration page that you require a confirmation when a user subscribes to a list, the field 'Subscribe Email' allows you to personalize the confirmation e-mail. Unsubscribe Settings : As soon as a user unsubscribe from your list, he can receive an e-mail. This e-mail is a confirmation of his unsubscription. You can customize this e-mail with the field ‘Unsubscribe Email’ and you can specify if you want to send this unsubscribe confirmation or not to the user with the field ‘Send unsubscribe message’.
Tab Add/Edit : (only Acajoom PRO)This tab allows you to specify an access level on the list. You can select a group of users and this group of users will be able to create, modify and send (with the scheduled system) Newsletters from the frontend. |
