A smart-newsletter allows you to send articles (the full article, only the introduction or only the title) from a section or a category to your subscribers added to a smart-newsletter list.  You can also specify the frequency at which you want to send the smart-newsletter.  Subscribers will automatically receive NEW articles belonging to the selected category.

First step: You have to create a new list

To create a new list, go on List page (menu Components -> Acajoom -> Lists) and click on 'New' button.

‘Description’ tab:

• You have to click on 'Smart-Newsletter' to set the good type of your list.
• Then, enter the name of your list (List name) and a description of your list (List description).
• Do not forget to publish your list if you want it to work.

‘Smart-Newsletter’ tab:

• Choose the frequency at which you want to send the smart-newsletter (Newsletter Frequency).
• Select the section in which the newsletter will take articles (if you don't select any section, Acajoom will include all new Joomla content in your Newsletter).
• You can also choose a category if you want to send articles belonging to a single category and not to all the articles of the section.
• Choose if you want to send the full articles, only introductions or only titles.

‘Subscription’ tab:

• As all the other lists, you can choose to automatically add all your users to this list by clicking on 'All Users'. With this option, all new users would be automatically added to the list.

Second step: Create a mailing template for that list

Your list is now configured but you have to create one (and only one) template for this list.

To do that, follow these instructions:

• Go on the Smart-Newsletters page (menu Components -> Acajoom -> Smart-Newsletters)
• Select the Smart-Newsletters list that you’ve just created (with 'Select a list').
• Create one (just one!) Smart-Newsletter (click on 'New')
• Enter the subject of your Smart-Newsletter
• Change the template as you want and don’t forget to add the Smart-Newsletter tag ( [SMARTNEWSLETTER] ) into the template. This tag will be automatically replaced by all the new articles in the selected section/category. This tag is only replaced when Acajoom generates a new Newsletter from your default template. If you send a test, Acajoom won't replace the tag [SMARTNEWSLETTER].
• Save the Smart-Newsletter (only click on 'Save' Button, don't click on 'Send')
• Your Smart-Newsletter must be unpublished and have an 'Issue number' = 0.
• Your articles will be included in the Newsletter and you can customize the look using the Acajoom Mambot/Plugin .

Last step: Make sure to have your cron task working

Cron tasks allow Acajoom to check if there is something to do (like sending Smart-Newsletters or auto-responder...).

So if you want Acajoom to automatically generate your SmartNewsletter and send e-mails, you need to set up a cron task for your Website.
