Error on Import - 2008/05/13 08:00 We are getting an error when we go, in Joomla 1.0, to Components >> Acajoom >> Import

On this page: http://www.newlifejournal.com/cms/administrator/index2.php?option=com_acajoom&act=update

We are getting this warning: Warning: 1011: Update will not work because of your server restrictions.

We don't get any form controls to upload a CSV file, as suggested in the documentation.

Thanks.

Re:Error on Import - 2008/05/13 19:36 Hello Metaphiz,

Please, make sure your upload directory is writable.

If you want to import users, you have to go to the menu Components > Acajoom > Subscribers. Click on the button "Import".

Re:Error on Import - 2008/05/14 02:14 My host said the same thing--the upload directory needs to be writeable. Forgive my newbiness, but what's the path to the upload directory?

Re:Error on Import - 2008/05/14 02:20 Don't worry.

The upload directory is located in the following path :
<joomla>/administrator/components/com_acajoom/upload

Re:Error on Import - 2008/05/14 02:57 Thanks, guys. Some more questions:

1) I think I really needed to go to components >> acajoom >> subscribers to import mailing recipients. This works well with a text file, but an excel file converted to CSV is not importing. It tells me it needs 4 arguments, but there are already four (name, email, HTML, confirmed) in my CSV. Is acajoom supposed to work with MS stuff?

2) The imported subscribers are coming in with a red x under registered instead of a green check. Is this because they were imported and they didn't register themselves through the reg form? Will they still receive the mailing?

3) To try to get rid of the warning under components >> acajoom >> import, I added an upload folder with my FTP program and set the permissions with the same program. There was no upload folder present at components >> com_acajoom. The folder I added was mysteriously removed. Did acajoom delete it? How could I not have the upload folder?

Verify that your CSV file doesn't contain quotes.
You can use a text editor to see the invisible characters.
Under GNU/Linux, I use the "less" command.

There's an existing post about invisible characters :

It means they are not registered via Joomla form as you said but they'll be subscribed to the newsletter(s) that you want to subscribe them.

Have you verified into the directory administrator/components/com_acajoom ?

I don't think Acajoom delete directory.
