Can't get Smart Newsletters to work. - 2008/06/01 23:54 Hi,
I have a problem where I cannot get the Smart letter to be generated automatically via a cron task. I can successfully trigger the newsletter if I select 'process queue' from the configuration tab.

I'm assuming it is something to do with my cron file setup but I've went through the instructions several times and can't see what I'm doing wrong. I have configured cron via cPanel to run every ten minutes over a twelve hour period each day, but without success.

The subscriber list is very small at the moment - only about 30 subscribers so I'd expect to need only two cron calls to manage the whole distribution

I looked at the cron configuration available via the joobisoft website and the url it creates is slightly different from that in the documentation :-
/index2.php?option=com_acajoom&act=cron&Itemid=999
not
/index.php?option=com_acajoom&act=cron

Not sure if this is significant, but any help or advice would be appreciated. For info my system is running Acajoom Pro 2.0.8 on J! 1.5.0, running in Legacy 1.0

Re:Can't get Smart Newsletters to work. - 2008/06/03 05:45 Some further info on this error. The cron task is reporting an error on attempting to invoke the url on each invocation :-

/bin/sh: http://www.dundeeroadrunners.co.uk/index.php?option=com_acajoom: No such file or directory

Re:Can't get Smart Newsletters to work. - 2008/06/04 21:34 Hello Gerard,

Have you published the Acajoom module ?

Because I try the different URL but nothing happens :
http://www.dundeeroadrunners.co.uk/index.php?option=com_acajoom
http://www.dundeeroadrunners.co.uk/index.php?option=com_acajoom&act=cron
http://www.dundeeroadrunners.co.uk/index.php?option=com_acajoom&act=cron&Itemid=99
http://www.dundeeroadrunners.co.uk/index.php?option=com_acajoom&act=cron&Itemid=999

Re:Can't get Smart Newsletters to work. - 2008/06/05 00:22 Hi,
No I didn't publish the module because I did not needwant front end control - I wanted all site subscribers to automaticaly receive the newsletter without havig to actively subscribe. I only set the smart-newsletter 'list' to published.

I assumed that publish-queue basically invoked the same php page when selected - and publish-queue works ok.

Or am I an idiot

Re:Can't get Smart Newsletters to work. - 2008/06/05 00:35 When I say "publish", I mean enable the module.
In the configuration of the module, select "None" for the "Menu Item Link(s)" field.

Save it. And try again this link :
http://www.dundeeroadrunners.co.uk/index.php?option=com_acajoom

Have you some users subscribed to your list ?
