Overcoming hosting limitations - 2006/08/29 05:17 Many people asked me how to overcome emailing hosting limitation with Acajoom.
In the configuration panel under the Mail tab in the Sending settings you can specify:
how many emails should be sent at one time
the pause between each sending

That will help you overcome some of the hosting limitations until we release Acajoom Plus where you will be able to queue all your emails and define when and how often to send the emails.

______________________UPDATE______________________

You can now use the scheduled Newsletter to queue all your e-mails and make sure Acajoom will send absolutely all your e-mails. This function is available in Acajoom Plus and PRO. For more informations, you can see a video tutorial about how to schedule a Newsletter on our documentation page.

So please read this very important article : http://www.acajoom.com/content/view/7866/93/

Re:Overcoming hosting limitations - 2006/09/02 19:01 Hi

We have set up other mass mailing systems on a managed server before, so I thought I'd share our exerience. Of course, Chris will have to confirm whether these issues affect his app:

1. Many servers have a php process killer for processes that appear to be taking too long or hanging. If this is the case, Acojoom's sender might be killed if it takes too long to send a lot of messages.

2. Some servers have processes that throttle mass mailing (independent of acojoom). This can be a problem if you are sending to a schedule.

3. Check that the server IP range is not blacklisted on RBL systems. If an ISP is used to send spam, often the anti-spam blacklist services will block the entire IP range, meaning that your emails will be blocked as well. You'll need to monitor this on a regular basis (e.g. http://www.robtex.com/rbls).

Brendon

Re:Overcoming hosting limitations - 2006/09/03 03:37 Brendon,

Thank you for the detailed explanation. Yes that the challenges. It is not a software issues, you will experiences that with any other mailing system if trying to send all the email at once to the mail server. The Acajoom.com website had that issue before when I wanted to send email to over a 1,000 people. I overcame part of the challenges using the alpha version of Acajoom Plus. I will provide more info on Acajoom Plus later we are planning on release the first version late september, if all goes as planned Chris

Re:Overcoming hosting limitations - 2006/12/18 22:51 First I would like to mentioned that Acajoom has been designed to overcome all those challenges and based on early result it seems that it is working very well.

Second here is some feedback from one from one of Acajoom user, I think it speaks by itself:

The good news is after I could not get the cron to work properly I did a manual send and the software is holding it’s own. Out of 17094 subscribed users, over 12000 emails have been sent out in batches of 100 with 120sec delay. I am watching the screen and it is reporting all emails being sent successfully and the duration it too to send the emails. The script has not stalled yet (fingers crossed) and has continued going.

It has been running now for over 2 hrs and my hosting company loves it as it does NOT bog down the server because of the intervals. I had one of the managers on the phone with me when we started the script so that he can monitor it’s progress. 100 emails are sent out through Plus and their server in approximately 15 seconds.

I hope that is enough info for you and that the info is helpful for your progress.

One last thing I ran a test on that sight you sent me too through your forum to test my email at spamcheck and the email passed easily. Only some minor issues caused by JCE editor using latin tags in HTML

My total score was 3.5 and according to SpamCheck anything less than 4.5 is great. (Just thought you might like to know) Next time I will try it with TinyMCE and see if we get better results

I HOPE THAT HELPS
