"click here if you cannot read this newsletter" link - 2006/11/10 16:17 I'd like to see a link at the top of each newsletter to a web-version of the newsletter on your own site. A lot of people with web-based email (gmail, hotmail etc.) have trouble seeing the newsletter as it should be (i.e; with all the lay-out).

Re:"click here if you cannot read this newsletter" link - 2006/11/15 00:48 I always laugh when I see emails that have this.

If the email browser cannot present the HTML formatted newsletter, then it also cannot display the link that the reader should click on to get to the web site.

So, AFAIK, the link is only useful if the email formatting is partially messed up (but HTML formatting is still partially working).

What do others think?

In actual response to the question...

AcaJoom allows a publicly viewable archive on the front end. By the time readers get the email, it will also be in the archive.

So, if the "View archive" link looks like this:

http://www.xxxxxxxx.co.za/index.php?option=com_acajoom&act=mailing&task=view&mailingid=6&Itemid=4

changing the mailing id in anticipation of the next newsletter should work. So, if the next one is due to be mailingid=8, update the link and insert it at the top of your newsletter.

Don't forget to actually set up the front end archive viewing option.

Let us know if that works.

Regards
Brendon

Re:"click here if you cannot read this newsletter" link - 2006/12/06 00:47 This is a very handy feature, if user correctly.

Yes, if the email reader can't read HTML, you could add something like:

"Copy & paste the following link into your browser, if you cannot read the newsletter."

This should be able to be auto-populated for each newsletter sent out.

Re:"click here if you cannot read this newsletter" link - 2007/01/07 11:01 In fact I would like to see a button (radio) that if checked does a 'dump' of the "template" to a static content "Category/Section" and allows browsers of the site to view the current email in all its glory; rather than the precised version that they now see... links mostly.

Not only would that be a further inducement to subscribe, though also add valuable content (and give those without 'html' access, the ability to see the full version).

This is an option you find today in most mailers and would be a welcome feature in Acajoom.
