Re:How to import an existing list of subscribers - 2008/04/24 17:19 Hello Marie,

Check your file if you haven't special/invisible characters between letters.

By experience, I already see this kind of data inside a CSV by using another text editor :
<FF><FE>B^@r^@i^@d^@g^@e^@t^@ ^@S^@h^@o^@r^@e^@,^@b^@s^@h^@o^@r^@e^@@^@x^@p^@l^@o^@r^@n^@e^@t^@.^@c^@o^@m^@,^@ 1^@,^@1^@^M^@

That's problem of encoding : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Byte-order_mark

Do you have a sample of your CSV ?

Re:How to import an existing list of subscribers - 2008/04/24 19:51 Thanks for your quick response!

I imported the file into NotePad ++ as an ANSI (?) file. saved it and tried to import it and got allot of strange characters with the message that the item needs 4 arguments, etc. I then saved the file as a plain text file and went back and put commas between each item in the first record, then tried to import again. It did import the first record and the rest it did not.

Is there an easy way to get the commas inserted in each record? At this point I will do it manually just to get it done, but sure would like an easier way. (Can you tell I really don't know much of what I am doing? Newbie to web site development and joomla in the last couple years with no formal training. Just love learning new things and seeing the site I developed up and running!)

Re:How to import an existing list of subscribers - 2008/04/24 20:22 The problem is the quotes, I checked with and without.

With : PROBLEM
Without : NO PROBLEM

When saving to CSV format with OpenOffice, there's an option called "Edit filter settings". Tick it and Save it.

You will be able to configure the saving process. Delete the quotes in the field "Text delimiter".

This is my configuration :

Re:How to import an existing list of subscribers - 2008/05/20 02:20 Hello tunilove,

If you want to import a users list to Acajoom, you have to use a CSV file and go to the menu "Components > Acajoom > Subscribers", then click on the button "Import".

So, if you want to import the data (newsletter + subscribers) from YanC or Letterman, you have to go the menu "Components > Acajoom > Import".
